Damion aimed to help people living in his community by collecting donations for his local PROP shop (People Reaching Out to People), a non-profit organization that provides basic support for families in need. Damion’s project related to ethics because it helped “to provide people with some of the ‘basic needs’ crucial to anyone’s life.” When discussing what he learned from his civic engagement project, Damion said “This project made me get up and do something myself to help make change, and that is a good feeling.” In addition to encouraging him to be an agent for change, “This project has made me apply ethics more often…This experience has made me want to explore other ways that I can help in my community.” Damion summarized his experience and emphasized, “This project was a lot of fun, or as fun as a school project can be, and I think it is because it is something you have to be involved with and not just read about. Definitely assign this project again!”
