Here is a description of Andrew’s organize an activity in his own words:
For my organize an activity project, I unfortunately missed the opportunity to work with a group due to personal reasons. So I waited around for ideas to hit me, but nothing ever would. One day I was drawing in my living room, my mom walked by and admired my work. Shortly after she suggested I incorporate my artistic skills into my project. I decided on making a painting, attempting to sell it and using the proceeds from that to donate to a charity. A couple days later I made a run to Hobby Lobby, picked up the materials I needed from the craft store and got straight to work. The painting itself took me the span of a couple days to finish. I had to scrap it once and restart, but all in all it took me about 7 hours to complete. Although I was frustrated with my work at the time, I failed to realize that simply painting it was going to be the easiest part. For some reason I could not get it over my head that somebody was going to give me real currency for this thing I made. I had so many doubts, while second guessing myself I put my painting up for sale on Etsy, Ebay and even Depop. It sat for a good week, and when thanksgiving came by I practically begged my family members to buy it off me, but still no luck. I decided to humble myself and lower the price on my painting, and within a couple days it sold. With the proceeds I decided to donate my money to Project Healthy Children. After learning about this charity in class. I figured this would be the best way to make my money stretch and help as many people as possible.

What are Andrew’s tips for YOU?
- DON’T PUSH IT OFF , I would recommend starting or at least having a solid plan a month in advance just to be cautious, accidents may happen delaying your project, and people can be flaky.
- If painting or doing any art related activities make sure to always trace in pencil first, haste makes waste.
- Attempt to get a group together or maybe find a partner. This project requires a lot of thought and planning, so I do not recommend working alone.
- Take advantage of your class resources, encourage your classmates to participate in your activity in exchange for you doing the same.
- Make sure to have a strong passion or purpose within this project, that way it can be fun and fulfilling rather than just another school project.
