For Amanda’s Organize an Activity, she decided to collect shampoos, conditioners and lotions from the hotel she currently works at to donate to a homeless shelter. After researching different organizations, she decided to donate the products listed to a program called Head to Toe in Minneapolis, MN. In this program, volunteers venture out on the streets and work with the homeless. Amanda writes, “I contacted the co-founder of Head to Toe and met with her and gave her the items. She was very pleased as I was as well. It put such a warm feeling in my heart knowing over 300 + people would be getting nice products to clean themselves with, especially because they are Bath and Body Works products, which is a popular brand for hygiene products.” After her initial success, Amanda is considering continuing this collection while she works. She writes, “…if we got over 300 products in a little over a week, imagine how many we would get in a year!” Amanda considers the importance of doing charity, but also the need for solutions that get at the root of the problems.
