The purpose of this project was to create an environment where American Sign Language can be used, and to expand Pacific University’s overall understanding of deafness, and Deaf culture. They also asked Pacific University to offer an ASL class, because there are none on campus. The students had ASL meetings, they created a petition, met with the university president, and participated in an educational conference at Pacific. The project was very successful, exceeding the students’ expectations! Pacific University agreed to have a class at Pacific!
